Extracurricular Activity Absences

The District shall make no distinction between absences for UIL activities and absences for other extracurricular activities approved by the Board. A student shall be allowed in a school year a maximum of 30 extracurricular absences at any level of competition.

Eligibility

In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements of an organization sponsoring an extracurricular activity, students enrolled in weighted classes [see EIC(LOCAL)] in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and languages other than English must maintain an average of 60 or above in each class to participate in extracurricular activities.

Waiver

A student may be allowed one waiver from the eligibility requirement for weighted classes per semester, based on his or her academic record and disciplinary history.

Use of District Facilities

School-sponsored student groups may use District facilities with prior approval of the appropriate administrator. Other student groups may use District facilities in accordance with policy FNAB.
