AD(LOCAL) - EDUCATIONAL ROLE, MISSION, PURPOSE, AND RESPONSIBILITY

Statement of Purpose

The College District shall be responsive to the needs and aspirations of the community it serves. This responsiveness shall be demonstrated by the College District's commitment to accessibility, comprehensiveness, flexibility, quality, and the accountability in programs and services it offers. Therefore, the College District shall provide:

Freshman and sophomore courses in arts and sciences;

Workforce education courses and programs leading to certificates, associate degrees, and employment;

Continuing education and community service programs for occupational or cultural upgrading;

Developmental education and basic skills programs designed to fulfill the commitment of an admissions policy allowing the enrollment of disadvantaged students;

A continuing program of counseling and guidance designed to assist students in achieving their individual educational goals;

Support services for educational programs and college-related activities; and

Such other programs as may be prescribed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and the College District's Board, in the best interest of post-secondary education in Texas.
