EHBAB(REGULATION) - SPECIAL EDUCATION: ARD COMMITTEE AND INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PROGRAM
Special Education Services
Unless services provided by nonschool practitioners are required by a student's individualized education program (IEP), therapy ser-vices and evaluations will be provided by District employees to students in special education. Community practitioners, such as nonschool psychologists, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech/language pathologists, or other nonschool practitioners are not permitted to provide therapy ser-vices or conduct evaluations on District property.
Upon request from a parent, an outside practitioner may observe in a student's classroom if the ARD committee determines that the observation is educationally necessary for developing the student's IEP or for providing a free, appropriate public education for the stu-dent. With the parent's consent, District personnel will provide to the practitioner oral and written personally identifiable student in-formation and education records concerning the student.
The outside practitioner may not engage either the student or staff in any way during the observation. At all times, the outside practitioner will be subject to laws and District policies governing visitors and will be subject to state and federal laws and District policies concerning confidentiality and privacy of students.
