Principal Qualifications

In addition to the minimal certification requirement, the principal shall have at least:

A master's degree from an accredited institution.

An appropriate administrator's certificate issued by the State Board for Educator Certification.

Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction;

The ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness;

The ability to manage budget and personnel and coordinate campus functions;

The ability to explain policy, procedures, and data;

Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills;

Three years' experience as a classroom teacher;

Prior experience in instructional leadership roles; and

Other qualifications deemed necessary by the Board.

Each principal is directly accountable to the Superintendent in the discharge of his or her duties.
