District Site-Based Decision-Making Committee

Elections

Elections for the District Site-Based Decision-Making (SBDM) Committee and campus SBDM committees will be held annually within 30 days of the first day of instruction.

Meetings

Meetings will be held in the fall to finalize the current plan and to prepare or modify objectives and strategies for the following year based on the data from the prior school year. Other meetings will be held on an as-needed basis and at the call of the chair.

Cabinet Role

Cabinet members will serve as ex officio members in an advisory role to the SBDM committee. If cabinet members are elected members of the council, they will retain their voting capacity.

Scope of Work

The SBDM committee will develop objectives and strategies that may be implemented Districtwide in scope to meet all District goals. All campus-based objectives and strategies will be included in the campus plans as developed by the respective SBDM committee.

Format of Plan

Each objective must be measurable and clearly tied to a District goal. Each objective must clearly outline the steps required to implement the strategy including time lines, resources, funding sources, personnel responsible, and both formative and summative evaluation procedures.

Relevance to District Planning

The District plan will include the objectives developed by the District SDBM committee, as well as all the objectives developed by each campus SBDM committee. Together, these documents will constitute the District improvement plan.

Budget Basis

The plans that are developed will guide the budget decisions of the District. All plans must be finalized prior to budget development and submitted with the budget proposal to support the mutual dependence planning, staffing, and budgeting share.

Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council

The Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council will be formed for the purpose of providing input to the Superintendent.

The Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council will be composed of the following:

Each campus will be represented by two parents who are non-employees of the District.

Representatives from each campus will be recommended by the principal and approved by the Superintendent.

Members of the Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council will serve a one school year term.

The committee will meet every nine weeks or four times during the school year unless otherwise called.

The Superintendent's Parent Advisory Committee will assume the following responsibilities:

Express parent concerns and problems;

Propose solutions to stated problems;

Provide input concerning policy, regulations, and program design;

Discuss the Superintendent's priority goals to include the instructional program, parental involvement, communication, and other related topics;

Provide input regarding ways to improve student/staff/community and parent relations;

Provide input regarding the appropriation and use of fiscal and human resources; and

Report on student achievement in academic and extracurricular areas.

Superintendent's Student Adivsory Council

A high school Superintendent's Student Advisory Council will be formed for the purpose of providing input to the Superintendent. The group will be representative of the student body and will meet on a regular basis.

The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council will be composed of four students and one alternate chosen at the principal's discretion.

The committee will meet every nine weeks or four times during the school year unless otherwise called.

The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council will assume the following responsibilities:

Express student concerns and problems;

Propose solutions to stated problems;

Provide input concerning policy, regulations, and program design;

Discuss the Superintendent's priority goals, which will include dropout prevention strategies, the counseling program, improved academic performance, and other related topics;

Discuss major social problems facing young people;

Provide input regarding ways to improve student/staff relations;

Provide input regarding the appropriation and use of fiscal and human resources; and

Report on student achievement in academic and extracurricular areas.
