Booster clubs compliance with UIL regulations
The District will comply with all University Interscholastic League (UIL) regulations, including those pertaining to athletic and academic booster clubs. The administration shall develop and enforce procedures to ensure compliance with UIL regulations.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY ABSENCES
The District shall permit students to be absent for extracurricular activities only in accordance with state rules. No additional activity-related absences shall be permitted.
The District has established a maximum of five absences in each class or subject, in one semester, for student participation in extracurricular activities.
ELIGIBILITY AND PARTICIPATION
Students shall be encouraged to participate in extracurricular and other school-related activities such as school-sponsored clubs, organizations, and activities that represent their particular interests.
The written procedures for all eligibility requirements governing participation in student activities shall be readily available to students.
ELIGIBILITY FOR HONORS / OFFICES
To be a candidate for officer or membership in an honor society or organization, a student shall have currently, and maintained in the preceding semester:
Passing grades in all subjects.
A general average of 75–79 or better.
A grade of at least "S" in citizenship.
To maintain the honors and offices, the student shall maintain these standards of citizenship and scholarship.
Curricular activities are those that occur within the regular school day and constitute delivery of instruction.
Cocurricular activities are an extension of classroom instruction in which participation is by the entire class or a significant portion thereof. Although carried out in locations outside the regular classroom, cocurricular activities relate directly to and enhance student learning and proficiency.
Students suspended from extracurricular activities because of academic ineligibility shall not be prevented from participating in after-school cocurricular activities. Students who, as a result of attending a cocurricular activity, miss a class other than the sponsoring class or course shall be considered to be on an extracurricular absence in the nonsponsoring class.
Building administrators shall encourage student participation in cocurricular programs.
USE OF DISTRICT FACILITIES
School-sponsored student groups may use District facilities with prior approval of the appropriate administrator. Other student groups may use District facilities in accordance with policy FNAB.
