EHBG(LOCAL) - SPECIAL PROGRAMS: PREKINDERGARTEN
In addition to admitting four-year-old students to prekindergarten in accordance with legal requirements, the District shall partner with Head Start to provide a prekindergarten program for eligible three-year-old students in accordance with federal and state law.
After all available spaces have been filled in the three-year-old prekindergarten program, the director of the Head Start three-year-old prekindergarten program shall maintain a waiting list of applicants who meet eligibility requirements. Any available spaces shall be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
If space is available in the District's four-year-old prekindergarten program after enrollment of all applicants who are eligible under state law, the District shall admit on a first-come, first-served basis children of District employees who do not meet the state eligibility requirements.
The enrollment of more students who are eligible for prekindergarten during the school year shall not result in the withdrawal of enrolled students who do not meet the federal and state eligibility criteria, as applicable; however, students not in compliance with attendance requirements shall be withdrawn.
