FM(LOCAL) - STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Extracurricular Activity Absences
The District shall make no distinction between absences for UIL activities and absences for other extracurricular activities approved by the Board. A student shall be allowed in a school year a maximum of ten extracurricular absences not related to post-district competition, a maximum of five absences for post-district competition prior to state, and a maximum of two absences for state competition.
Up to an additional five absences shall be permitted when a student has a grade of at least 80 in the courses or subjects to be missed.
Limits on Participation and Practice
A senior student shall not miss any part of the core class that is tied to an end-of-course (EOC) exam to participate in or travel to an extracurricular activity during the school day if the senior student has failed the portion of the state-mandated exit-level assessment or the EOC exam associated with that class.
A senior student who has failed any portion of the state-mandated exit-level assessment or an EOC exam may not participate in after-school extracurricular activities or practices during after-school state-mandated exit-level assessment or EOC tutorials.
A student who has failed any portion of the state-mandated exit-level assessment or an EOC exam shall be allowed to participate in one-time contests and competitions held at or above District level.

A former transfer student who becomes a resident of the District shall not be allowed to participate in any UIL activity until the parent or guardian pays any outstanding transfer fees to the District. These provisions shall also apply to any transfer student whose parent or guardian has failed to pay transfer fees in prior years, has failed to notify the District of his or her out-of-District residence, or has previously provided falsified residency information [see FD].
