GKG(LOCAL) - COMMUNITY RELATIONS: SCHOOL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Volunteers—parents, mentors, community members, and members of the business sector—shall be used in the schools to further the educational opportunities and achievement of all children and facilitate in producing responsible citizens.
Since volunteers' qualifications vary with the type of volunteer program offered and the needs of the individual schools, guidelines shall be established by the Superintendent to ensure optimal use of the volunteers by the schools. Programs shall be monitored for volunteer performance and program effectiveness.
All volunteers shall be required to submit evidence of a criminal history record check.
The District shall inform volunteers when their services are to begin and shall provide volunteers with a list of program guidelines. Volunteers in the school shall work directly under the supervision of the principal on whose campus they are assigned. Principals shall work with the appropriate coordinator of the specific volunteer program. If there is a problem with a volunteer, the principal shall contact the appropriate coordinator for remediation.
The Superintendent shall designate an office to maintain a list of District-recognized volunteer and community partnership programs.
