BJB(LOCAL) - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION
The Board shall notify the commissioner when a vacancy exists.
The Board shall draft a vacancy notice that includes a list of competencies and position qualifications.
A search committee shall be designated by the Board to assist with the selection process.
The commissioner or designee may meet with the Board to approve the list of competencies, position qualifications, and the list of search committee members.
When approved, the job vacancy notices shall be distributed to:
- The commissioner.
- The executive directors of other ESCs.
- Each school district within the region.
- Any other location deemed appropriate by the Board.
The notice shall be posted for at least 30 days after the date of the announcement, and applications shall be accepted during that time.
The search committee shall review all applications and select finalists to present to the Board. The Board shall provide the list of all qualified candidates to the commissioner or designee identifying those selected by the committee.
Upon receipt of approval from the commissioner, the Board shall initiate the final selection process. The Board, meeting as a Committee of the Whole, shall interview each of the finalists, make a selection, and notify the commissioner of the decision.
The contents of the compensation and benefits package agreed to by the Board and the Executive Director shall be memorialized in a written instrument.
